Consultations for Professionals

Supporting children and young people with SEND can be challenging at times, especially when their needs are complex.  Speaking to a professional who can give some advice and guidance often can make this challenge less daunting. This section of the Local Offer website provides information on consultation available to professionals from support services working across the localities and districts in Birmingham, including how to book one of the consultations.

Developing children’s independence in activities of daily living and hobbies.

Do you have children within your setting that have difficulties with Occupational Therapy needs around self-care, motor skills or sensory differences?

You can request a 30-minute MS Teams drop-in session per school term to meet with a SEND Locality/District OT.

We are able to provide support and advice, signpost you onto services and check if a child is under a community health service.

Please gain parental consent if you want to discuss specific children, then bring their date of birth (or NHS number) to the meeting.

We can also discuss your school’s universal and targeted support for SEND and identify any training needs or resources to support your provision.
