Take part in user research with the Children and Young People’s Travel Service
We want to hear from Birmingham parents and carers about your experiences of using our websites and communicating with us about home to school transport. Your feedback will help us improve our online services to better meet your needs.
If you take part in a one-on-one research session you will receive a £20 gift voucher as a thank you.
Why your help matters
We want to make our online services easier to use. The best way to do that is by listening to the people who use them.
Your views matter to us, and taking part in our research gives you the opportunity to help shape the way parents and carers interact with and experience home to school transport services.
How to get involved
Taking part in our user research is simple:
Register your interest
Tell us a little about yourself by completing our user research sign-up form. This will help us to decide which research opportunities would be a good fit for you.
Wait for an invite
If we think you are a good match for a research activity, we will email you with all the details.
Take part
If you are available on the dates when we are running research sessions, book yourself onto one at a time that suits you and then join the session using the invite email we will send you.
Important: registering does not guarantee you will be invited to take part, and research sessions will be available to book on a first come first served basis.
What to expect from a user research activity
We will be asking parents and carers to participate in a variety of research activities, including:
- one-on-one interviews, where we will ask about your experiences of using our home to school transport websites and online services, engaging and communicating with us at different times and what you need from us to improve future interactions
- one-on-one observation sessions, where we will ask you to carry out a task on one of our websites, such as finding information or filling in an online form, and talk us through what you are seeing, thinking and feeling as you complete the task. The purpose of these sessions will be to better understand how well our current online services work for our customers. They will not be a test of people’s ability
- online surveys or questionnaires
All one-on-one research sessions will take place online, over a Microsoft Teams video call. We will email you everything you need to know before the session.
These research sessions will be recorded so that they can be shared with our wider research team, and we might also have someone on the call taking notes or observing the session. If you are not comfortable with this, that is fine – just let us know at the time of booking.
All answers and information we gather from people who participate in our user research activities will be treated as confidential and will only be seen by the research team. Any findings from this user research that we publish will be anonymised before they are shared.
What you will get
- a £20 Love2shop gift voucher if you take part in a one-on-one interview or session
- entry into a £50 Love2shop gift voucher prize draw if you complete a survey or questionnaire
