New Community Fund is Coming!
Help Shape the Future for Birmingham’s Children and Families!
We’re excited to share some great news! A brand-new Community Consultation and Engagement Fund will soon be open for applications! All you need to do for now is give us an expression of interest.
This fund is a fantastic opportunity for community groups, grassroots organisations, and local champions to access funding to engage directly with children, young people, parents, and families across Birmingham.
The Children and Families Directorate at Birmingham City Council has launched this initiative to ensure that community voices are at the heart of shaping services, policies, and local priorities. Whether you want to host a listening event, run a series of consultation sessions, or gather family feedback to help design a new service, this fund is for you.
What is it for?
This fund is designed to support meaningful conversations with communities. It will help organisations:
- Run one-off or ongoing consultation/engagement activities
- Gather real insights from children and families
- Inform how services are delivered or shaped in Birmingham
It’s not about long-term programmes or support groups, but about hearing from communities to guide decisions, improve delivery, and co-design what comes next.
Who can apply?
You can apply if:
- The consultation or engagement supports or promotes a specific programme that benefits children, young people, parents, or families in Birmingham, or aims to make a positive impact on their lives.
- It is guided by a clear plan, shaped by the needs of the community and with equality in mind.
- It is non-profit and focused on making a difference, not making money.
How much funding can you apply for?
You can apply for between £1,000 and £7,500. The amount you can receive depends on:
- How many children, young people, or families your project will reach.
- The level of impact your project will have across Birmingham.
Example
Projects that reach over 200 families or children and have a city-wide impact may be eligible for the maximum £7,500.
Smaller, more targeted projects will likely receive a lower amount, depending on their scale and impact.
Please note: £7,500 is the maximum you can apply for.
This is a one-off funding opportunity available only for this financial year. We will provide the money this financial year, but you don’t need to complete your initiative within this timeframe.
Please email localoffer@birmingham.gov.uk to let us know your expression of interest, and we will email you with the next steps and how to apply once the application window is open.
