Birmingham Children’s Trust: Rights and Participation

Description

Did you know that in Rights and Participation, there are a number of groups for children in care and care-experienced young people to be a part of.

These are:

- Children in Care Council (age 12-18)
- Junior Children in Care Council (age 8-11)
- SEN Children in Care Council (age 12-18)
- LGBTQ+ Children in Care Council (age 12-18)
- Young Parents (up to age 25)
- Care Leavers' Forum (age 18-25)
Group for young people who are Black, Asian or from any other ethnic minority background (age 11-18)

All groups meet regularly, and their role is to improve children and young people in care as well as care leaver’s experiences. You don’t need to disclose anything personal about why you may be in care. All you need to be able to do is commit to attending meetings and work with others to improve things for children in care and/or care leavers.

If you know of a young person who would be interested in joining one of our groups or if you have any more information, please visit the website.
