Autism Champions will gain practical strategies to encourage shared focus, engagement, and purposeful communication. |
| Afternoon | Executive Function and Gaining Pupil Voice | Understanding executive function skills such as planning, organisation, emotional control, and flexible thinking, and their impact on learning and behaviour. Autism Champions will learn strategies to support these skills while promoting meaningful pupil voice and participation in decision-making. | |||
| Day 4 | Tuesday 29th September 2026 | Heartlands Centre, Francis Street, Nechells, B7 4JN. | Morning | NEN Anxiety and Anxious Non-Attendance | Autism Champions will explore autism as a difference, helping to recognise what may cause anxiety for autistic pupils and how that anxiety might be expressed. |
| Afternoon | Emotional Regulation and Zones of Regulation | An introduction to emotional regulation and the Zones of Regulation framework. Autism Champions will learn how to help pupils recognise, understand, and manage their emotions, using consistent language and practical strategies to support self-regulation and wellbeing. | |||
| Day 5 | Tuesday 6th October 2026 | Heartlands Centre, Francis Street, Nechells, B7 4JN. | Morning | Transitions | Autism Champions will explore the key factors that make transition to secondary school successful, highlighting the differences in environment, expectations and routines that may impact autistic learners. Delegates will gain practical strategies to prepare pupils effectively, reduce anxiety, and build confidence through structured support, communication and collaboration with families and schools |
| Afternoon | Makaton Taster Session | A practical introduction to Makaton, exploring how signs and symbols can support communication and inclusion. Autism Champions will learn core signs and gain confidence in using Makaton to support understanding, expression, and engagement. |
