Dental Care 16+

Description

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust’s Special Care Dentistry is a consultant-led, specialist dental service providing tailored care on referral for adults aged 16 and over who have severe disabilities, complex medical conditions or significant mental health needs that make routine dental treatment in standard practice unsuitable. The service offers specialist facilities such as sedation, general anaesthetic, wheelchair-accessible equipment, bariatric chairs and cognitive support across community settings in Birmingham. They have hospital-based support where needed and also includes support for people with extreme dental anxiety and services like a dental clinic for homeless adults. Referrals are managed by a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive appropriate, compassionate care when general dental services are not suitable for their needs.
